PETE LEMERE

1933-2026

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Pete LeMere. Pete passed away on April 5th at his home in Green Bay. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marian, three children, six grandchildren, and four great-children.

A graduate of Gibraltar High School, St. Norbert College (Bachelor’s), and the University of Michigan (Master’s). He spent his entire career in public health. He retired from the Brown County Health Department at age 63. Immediately after his retirement, Pete earned his Commercial Driver's License and drove semi tractor and trailer for Clark Cartage and then Potts Transport. He drove a Green Bay to Grand Rapids (Michigan) route for most of his twenty years, retiring in his early eighties.

Pete was a long-time member of Friends of Plum & Pilot Islands. He was a crew member for The Shoreline (FOPPI’s tour boat) and a member of FOPPI’s “Lambeau Cleanup Crew.” Besides being very active with FOPPI, Pete was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, a docent on the “John Purves” (Door County Maritime Museum’s tugboat), and the Egg Harbor Historical Society.

For last several years, during the Door County History Week, the Egg Harbor Historical Society featured a presentation titled “Pete LeMere’s Egg Harbor.”  Pete will be greatly missed.
