A Place to Preserve our Maritime History and Connect People to Nature

Our vision is for the boathouse to become the Refuge's welcome and education center.

We have begun a partnership with the Ridges Forest School, bringing children to the island to learn about nature in her wildest state.  In the future we plan the boathouse to be a place where they may conduct observations, discuss their findings and learn more about their natural world.

In our vision, this iconic building could be a place to coordinate, facilitate, enhance and expand our refuge programs (Photography, Birding, Historical Interpretation, Butterfly Tagging, Festival of Nature) and have a space to relax and immerse ourselves in various art mediums in this inspirational environment.
