The Sister Bay Liberty Grove Fire Department (SBLGFD) donated an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for use aboard The Shoreline!
SBLGFD started a program years ago using donations to buy AED's and distribute them throughout the community.
The more of these out there the more lives that can be saved!
AEDs are used to shock a heart back into a normal rhythm during certain types of cardiac emergencies. Most CPR classes now teach how to use an AED, however many are so user-friendly that anyone can use them. In addition to written instructions, once the unit is turned on voice prompts guide bystanders through caring for the "patient."
The AED will be carried aboard The Shoreline as a wonderful addition to our emergency equipment. Though we hope to never use it, our captains and crew are trained in its operation.
THANK YOU TO THE SISTER BAY/LIBERTY GROVE FIRE DEPARTMENT!
